Cocktails for a Cause – Breast Cancer Awareness Month
While traditionally the month of October is synonymous with oranges, reds, and yellows, you may have noticed an unlikely addition to the Autumn hues being sported by all your favorite people. From police officers to NFL athletes, it seems as though everyone is wearing pink this for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Awareness is the First Step
Also referred to as Pinktober, the entirety of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And with one out of every eight women being affected by this serious disease, it’s a biggie. By bringing awareness to the forefront, cancer charities all over the world hope to give folks the opportunity to detect cancer early, raise money for research, and spread valuable information and support to those who need it the most.
Don’t Hate, Donate
There are lots of ways to get involved and be an ally for the cause this month. It’s as easy as wearing pink! You can even take it one step further and post a selfie in your pink getup using the hashtags #breastcancerawareness or #pinktober. And, of course, donate donate donate! A monetary donation to any of the many charities involved in Breast Cancer Awareness Month is always welcome, but blood and hair donations are needed as well.
Eat, Drink, and be an Ally
With so many being affected by this disease, this is important to us. We at Firefly* – Southwest are here to make it even simpler to help. For every Gin & Tonic ordered, we will send $1 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to aid in the research towards finding a cure. We know you’ve been itching to get to our new location anyway and see what all the buzz is about, so now you can come in, eat the delicious tapas you know and love, and drink G&T’s all night long for a good cause. Joining the movement to kick cancer’s ass has never been easier.
