Have you been dreaming of Spain? Although it might be nice, you don’t have to go to Spain to enjoy fantastic Spanish wines. We’ve put together a list of wines that will have you longing for a trip to Barcelona and Beyond.

Spanish wines are wines produced in Spain. Located on the Iberian Peninsula, Spain has over 2.9 million acres planted—making it the most widely planted wine-producing nation though it is the third-largest producer of wine in the world- the largest being Italy followed by France. Spain is the second-largest wine-producing country in the world (4,607,850 tonnes).

Burgáns, Rias Baixas, ALBARIÑO

This is a crisp wine that exhibits aromas of ginger and flowers with flavors of tropical fruits and minerals. It’s from the region of Rias Baixas. Albariño’s are great if you want to relax outside on a warm summer day.

Juve y Camps, Reserva de la Familia, BUBBLES – CAVA

This cava has aromas of mature white peach, toasted bread and green tea with hints of lemon, citrus, and apricots. It’s is the cava of choice of Spain’s royal family and is regularly served at Spain’s royal banquets. So consider yourself a Royal if you indulge in this cava.

Herminia, Rioja, TEMPRANILLO

This Tempranillo has a beautiful bright cherry color. It is very fresh and fruity, with delicate vanilla nuances. Brown and smooth on the palate, with soft pleasant tannin. A memorable wine meant to inspire your amazing stories and create unforgettable moments. What will your Herminia story be?

Emilio Moro, R.d.D., TEMPRANILLO

With black cherry, red plum and currant flavors that are fresh and lively in this firm red, backed by dark chocolate, licorice, and toasty notes. Light, firm tannins and citrusy acidity keep these flavors focused. This is a full-bodied wine.

Antidoto, Ribera del Duero, TEMPRANILLO

“Antidoto” is a phenomenal value wine from Soria, a remote eastern part of Ribera del Duero where temperatures tend to be cooler and old vines are in abundance. This is an extremely sophisticated wine with beautiful blackberry fruit, moderate oak from older barrels and notes of tobacco and sassafras. This is a balanced wine with moderate tannins and a long finish that will pair well with red meats, sausages, and rustic Spanish style fare.

Domaine de Pingus, “Psi” R.d.D

Named after the 23rd letter of the Greek alphabet, PSI is “pingus for the people” and boasts bold aromas of plum, tobacco, licorice, tar, hints of violet, and lovely dark chocolate notes. Dark in color but not extracted, this surprisingly “light on its feet” red shows broad flavors of blueberries, plums, and blackberries. Bright and chewy, this is a wine of purity and depth. You can enjoy this epic creation with your favorite meat dishes.

Alvaro Palacios, Priorat, GARNACHA

This a focused blend that hails from the schist hills of Priorat. It spends 8 months in Oak barrels and if you like them oaky this wine is for you. If you let it open up you will get rich inky blackberry flavors that can handle lamb or steak.
